A new beginning

I am both happy and sad today, because this is my last post on this forum. This blog has served me very well, and I have loved writing on it. But it's time for a new beginning.

This is the announcement you've all been waiting for....my new website www.niseyknits.com. This website has taken over a year to get off the ground, and at times I wondered whether it was the right thing to do. However I really really wanted one place where you could find my designs,  my finished items and me, and the blog was just not cutting it for me.

Now this website is still a work in progress, but most of the main parts are finished, so I thought I'd share it with you.  The design work and the building of the website was done by Sierra Fong and Mike Chen of Atmosphere Websites. I love, love, love their work! I'm still working with Sierra on a few more design items and hope this business relationship continues because they do amazing work, and their support is phenomenal ( I know because I've emailed them back and forth over a hundred little things, and they respond so very quickly in a very positive tone, even though I know it must be exasperating.)

I hope you will all join me in the move. I will still be blogging once a week as I used to. You can subscribe to the blog through my newsletter ( I won't spam you I promise. It will be my blog post, just delivered in a beautiful format to your inbox).

Once again, thank you, thank you, thank you for joining me on this journey so far. Hop on and let's move to the next level at www.niseyknits.com.

Have a wonderful rest of the week, and see you soon at my new home

And in this week's post...a quick poll

I have to unfortunately disappoint you all because I cannot make that big announcement I talked about in last week's post. It's not ready yet. However, I would love some help from you today if you would bear with me. Please take this quick poll I put together (and feel free to be as silly as possible) with your answers. I can't wait to read your answers.
See you next week!

Oooo what do we have here? BT FALL 12, that's what!

It's another beautiful collection from the in-house design team at Brooklyn Tweed. Y'all know how much I love the work done by Jared Flood and his team. His yarn lines Shelter and Loft look pretty darn good, and I'm kicking myself for not having a skein or two yet to try out.

Well, Mr. Flood and his team over at Brooklyn Tweed have given us a wonderful way to welcome fall (A.K.A knitting season) with 18 mouth-watering designs in the BT FALL 12 collection. The patterns in this collection make such good use of the Shelter yarn brand that you want to buy a few skeins in EVERY color available (or maybe it's just me? )

The first number that caught my eye was the Gelsomina Aran pullover by Veronik Avery. Those traveling stitches at the front, that rich deep blue color, the moss stitch used all over to give such awesome texture! I tell you, I fell head over heels (or needles over yarn?) in love with this pattern.

Oh, and there are cuffs to match this awesome pullover.

I might be on a Veronik Avery kick because my second love from this collection is also by her. Anais is a simple, elegant cowl neck sweater with a sweet lace insert that just takes it to the next level of cuteness. I'm not quite sure I can pull the sweetness thing off with this sweater, but I love the design. I love the off-white/oatmeal color of the yarn, the simple stockinette stitch that makes up the whole body of the sweater, and that cute detail at the seams (see second photo)! It's another winner!

And finally, Turnagain by Julie Hoover. You all know how much I love accessories (helloooo!! All my patterns so far have been accessories), and this cowl just knocked the air out of me when I saw it. Big stripes on one side, and skinny stripes on the other? You had me at "stripe". I love, love, love this pattern, and of all the patterns I've listed so far, it might be the one I actually make (not because I love the others less, but because I'm still too lazy to start a whole garment, and I fear I might never finish).

So there you have it! Another winning set from Brooklyn Tweed. Do check out all the patterns in this collection, as well as in the other collections on BrooklynTweed. I need to add some Shelter and Loft yarns to my stash. So very pretty.

I have some big news next week, so I hope to see you here so you can be a part of it. Have a great rest of the week!
